These globally inspired hand-painted candles are small works of art. Crafted by artisans in South Africa, each candle is hand-poured and then individually hand-painted. Each design name is derived from a special African word that is brought to life through the color and patterns that reflect the culture and influences of South Africa.
The style images pictured illustrate the general design but note that each candle is one of a kind. A truly unique and beautiful gift for hostesses, housewarming, wedding, anniversary, and more that make a striking addition to every home and a beautiful conversation piece!

The Story Behind the Art:
Each candle is hand-poured and hand-painted by South African artisans with years of experience. After the candles are poured, they are handed off to the special background painters, who paint the entire wax candle with a base color that sets the tone for the design work that comes next. Masterful artists then paint the designs on each piece. It is truly exciting to watch the swift strokes of the paintbrushes transform what was molten wax into gorgeously colorful, individualized works of art!

Cada vela está vertida y pintada a mano por artesanos sudafricanos con años de experiencia. Una vez vertidas las velas, se entregan a los pintores de fondo especiales, quienes pintan toda la vela de cera con un color base que marca el tono para el trabajo de diseño que viene a continuación. Luego, artistas magistrales pintan los diseños de cada pieza. ¡Es realmente emocionante ver cómo los rápidos trazos de los pinceles transforman lo que era cera fundida en obras de arte individualizadas y maravillosamente coloridas!

NOBUNTO es una empresa sudafricana de comercio justo que crea velas, cerámicas y tarjetas de felicitación hechas a mano de alta calidad con la máxima atención al detalle utilizando diseños de inspiración principalmente africana. Su misión es, en una región con un alto desempleo, aliviar la pobreza, no sólo mediante el desarrollo de la industria sino siendo social, ética y sosteniblemente responsables. Con sede en el pequeño pueblo de Napier, a unos 180 km al este de Ciudad del Cabo, NOBUNTO ha proporcionado empleo principalmente a mujeres de la comunidad desfavorecida y garantiza ingresos a más de 18 familias. La tasa de desempleo en la zona ronda el 50%. La palabra NOBUNTO proviene del idioma sotho y significa "para el pueblo". |
